Hopi Kachinas! Kachinas are great, you guys. Does anyone have links to good legit info on them that isn’t like, french doll collectors and glib Wiki articles? The most I can tell you about the ones I drew is that the white bear is a big cool leader guy and the red dudes are clowny types who get up to wacky hijinks.

Yes, Kachinas are great but they are also a part, a BIG part, of traditional Hopi religion and culture. The impression that I get is that your story above is inspired by Kachina artwork and not actually meant to represent your own version of Kachinas. Right?

“They resisted conversion to Christianity more than most tribes and generally do not allow non-Hopi to attend katsina ceremonies. The Hopi have done this to protect their culture and prevent it from being diluted by the larger modern culture. One side effect of this, is that there are no detailed descriptions of Hopi religious belief or rituals written by an actual Hopi (that I know of anyways). Most texts were written by western writers based on observations before the Hopi clamped down on observers.”

As for Thanksgiving, look up the Narraganesett and Wampanoag.
